Chapter I

The World Context

Lampas is not an independent state; it is a coastal colonial territory of the Royal Elandrian Monarchy, located approximately 220 kilometers from the mainland. It serves as the Crown's primary deep-sea research station and its most profitable luxury retreat.

History: The Reign of Elandria

The Ascension of the Princess

The modern trajectory of the empire was forged sixteen years ago following the death of the reigning sovereign, Constantine the Elandria. Upon his passing, his iron-willed heir, Imperial Princess Selene, ascended the throne to become the next living personification of the state — assuming the absolute title of The Elandria. Eager to project her nation's power across the southern seas, Selene immediately abandoned her predecessor's isolationist policies, ushering the empire into a ruthless, hyper-expansionist regime.

The Conquest

The Conquest of Lampas

Selene's decade on the throne was marked by unparalleled tactical bloodshed and countless territorial victories. It was during this golden age of conquest that the Royal Elandrian Navy swept across the eastern horizon, shattering local resistance and annexing strategic outposts — including the high-value treaty port of Lampas. Her uncompromising rule permanently cemented Elandria as the world's preeminent and finest empire.

The Sovereign's Demise

At the absolute zenith of her geopolitical power, the expansionist crusade was cut short. Stricken by a sudden, highly classified, and unknown sickness, Selene the Elandria died six years ago, having ruled for precisely a decade. Her sudden passing brought a fragile, tense peacetime to the empire, leaving her newly captured oceanic territories, like Lampas, to be managed under the cold, watchful eye of the current occupational regime led by her half-sister, Beatrix the Elandria.

Chapter II

The Legend of K'Ra

Long before the Elandrian ships arrived — before the golden banners, the Navy flags, and the resort brochures — the locals spoke of K'Ra: The Mother of the Sea. She is not merely a monster. She is not merely a god. She is a primordial force, older than language, older than land.

She does not hunger. She does not hate. She simply is — and when she wakes, the sea remembers what it owns.— Pre-Colonial Oral Tradition

Ancient Lampas texts — carved into the obsidian walls of the Mother's Grotto — claim the town is actually a "gift" from her: a place for land-dwellers to rest until she decides to reclaim it. The land itself is borrowed time, a breath held between tides.

The Elandrians dismissed this as "folklore." They built their resort anyway. They dredged the harbor, blasted the reef for their docks, and poured concrete over the old prayer stones. The locals stopped warning them. Some say they stopped because they were tired of being ignored. Others say they stopped because they knew it was already too late.

Chapter III

The Guest: You

Whether you're an influencer lured by a glossy ad, a merchant looking to squeeze gold from the salt, or a traveler summoned by Imperial decree — you have a role to play. And Lampas has already decided what that role is, even if you haven't.

⚔️
To the Admiral
You are a subject to be governed. Your freedoms extend exactly as far as the Imperial Navy permits, and not one step further. You exist within the perimeter of order.
🕯️
To the High Priest
You are a witness to the inevitable. Your presence here is not coincidence — it is prophecy. The Mother called you here, and when she rises, you will understand why.
To the Tourism Director
You are just a five-star review with a pulse. Smile for the brochure. Tip generously. Do not, under any circumstances, go swimming after dark.
You step off the Mont Blanc with a clean slate, but you are now part of the town's history. The ink is already drying.

The Cycle of Demise: Death & Respawn

The Mother of the Sea has decided that it isn't time for you to go yet. Not because she loves you, but because she's not yet done playing with you.

In Lampas, death is not a clean release, nor is it a sterile transition to a hospital bed. When you run out of hearts, your soul does not ascend to heaven — it sinks. You do not wake up in the hospital; you awake in the cold, eerie chamber of the mausoleum in the cemetery, choking up black seawater onto glass floors.

The true horror begins when you follow the internal, magnetic pull back to the site of your demise.

💀

Finding Your Corpse

You will find your belongings scattered in the dirt, exactly where you dropped them. And there, lying amongst the coins and tools, is your own corpse. It is cold. The eyes are blank. The skin is pale and encrusted with sea salt.

A violent wave of psychological derealization grips your mind. You are looking down at your own face, yet you are standing upright. Who is that lying in the mud? If that is you, then who are you? This doesn't make any sense. The memories of your life feel distant, slippery, and warped by the weight of the deep water. You are allowed to pick up your tools and carry on your vacation, but you are left with a lingering, paranoid rot in your subconscious: You are a ghost wearing the stolen clothes of a dead man.

Geography

Lampas (officially the Imperial Sovereign Territory of Lampas) is a high-density island treaty port and overseas dependency of the Empire of Elandria. Characterized by its sharp sociological divide and mid-20th-century "Atomic Era" architectural boom, the territory serves as a vital strategic refueling hub, economic free-zone, and military staging ground.

The territory is divided into clear sectors defined by history, commerce, and scientific ambition. It consists of the historic settlement, the modern imperial hub, and the offshore research facility.

Lore Books

Found in the archives, whispered in the taverns, carved into temple stone. These are the texts that define Lampas — some beautiful, some terrible, all true in the way that only fiction can be.

Poem
The Moon Eater
A glittering speck with a hollow gut,
It ate the moon while the stars were shut.
Great Bathala woke with a heavy sigh,
But the salt of sleep was in his eye.

He reached for his Mother, cold and deep,
To guard our shores while the land-folk sleep.
When the serpent comes to claim its prize,
The Mother wakes and the oceans rise.

'Krra, Krra,' is the song she sings,
Beneath the toll of the tide-bell's rings.
Drink in the sun and the golden light,
Before the Mother joins the bite.
Short Story
Romantic Arrogance
In the early days of the war, there was a woman whose beauty exceeded the boundaries of land and shore. Nobles offered her gold and silk, but her heart was anchored to a man of Old Lampas. He was a fisherman, simple and stern, with a wife, four children, and a home built on the edges of land.

She followed him to the water's edge every dawn, her presence a shadow on his nets. One evening, exhausted and cold, the fisherman finally snapped. He reached into his basket, grabbed a cold, silver mackerel, and struck her across the face with the wet weight of the dead thing.

"You weep for love?" he roared. "I have no love for a woman who does not know the sea. Perhaps if you were a fish, I would find a place for you in my boat."

The woman fled. She locked herself away, her weeping heard through the floorboards for seven days. When the neighbors broke down her door, the room was flooded with seawater. She was gone.

All that remained on her bed was the severed tail of a great fish — shimmering, silver, and still twitching. They say she became the first siren, and now, she only sings for men who have families to lose.

Style Guide Excerpt

The aesthetic engine of Lampas operates on a single, irreconcilable tension: the gleaming promise of progress against the ancient pull of the deep. Every surface, every font choice, every color reflects this duality.

Atomic-Age Ambition vs. Ancient-Deep Dread

The visual language of Lampas is 1950s Retro-Futurism / Colonial Romanesque. Think mid-century resort brochures — sun-bleached pastels, Art Deco flourishes, gold leaf accents — but with a corruption spreading from the edges. The deeper you look, the darker it gets.

Mid-Century MaritimeArt DecoColonial GothicOceanic Horror

Magic as Industry — Magic is treated like Atomic Energy in the 1950s: an industrial commodity to be harnessed, regulated, and profited from. It is not mystical; it is practical, dangerous, and deeply misunderstood.

Class Over Kin — Race is cosmetic. Class is the engine that drives every interaction, every law, and every betrayal on this island. Your bloodline means nothing compared to your balance sheet.
