LAMPIA FACTORY RAID SUCCESS? ONE CASUALTY AND MANY QUESTIONS REMAIN!
The people of Lampas banded together yesterday in a coordinated siege to infiltrate and stop the Lampia Cheese Factory. Following a call to action by the Old Lampas Alliance, folks from all walks of life gathered at the encampment, contributing their skills and resources to the operation. The Royal Navy led by Admiral Sully and Admiral Noct led the attacking force on the front lines, with siege turrets manned by demo specialist Commodore Tater clearing airborne threats. Hardened locals from the Fisheries fought valiantly with enchanted rods to disarm hired mercenaries while others handed out goods and protected those that remained in the back lines from hidden assailants.
Several merchants and affiliated individuals were witnessed defending the factory, draped in full gold and armed with the monstrous power of Lampia Cheese. Knight, an avid endorser of the cheese, engaged multiple individuals in combat that left many in shock and injury. Inside, factory employees were nowhere to be seen, along with CEO Conrad Moneyhill and associate Crowley D. Geld who remain at large. Empty halls and offices caught on fire while most of the mysterious machinery remained working in full swing. Researchers of the L.M.I. worked together to solve the complex engineering, traps, and hidden doors, while able-bodied fighters rushed in to duel with the many strange creatures hidden in the walls. A particularly curious sign described one of the mutated horrors as 'Bobby', suspected to be a former employee.
Chaos erupted when the infiltrating force arrived at a room housing a mutated, 'chicken'-like creature housed in a pool of acid and toxic waste, with other terrors swimming in the waters. Screams of panic echoed alongside whirring machinery and gunfire. Many were forced to fall back and regroup, and in the midst of it all, a lone student of the Lampas Marine Institute slid through the final doorway, arriving at the Reactor room. Foregoing the ominous signs and warnings, Jon Octobust chose to enter the chamber, hitting the switch, and losing his life in exchange to shut down the factory.
As the dust settled, and the few that remained gathered before the Reactor Core as Chancellor Lovemachine addressed the people. "The L.M.I. publicly declares itself as an enemy of the faith," he stated, explaining that the institute had reached a chilling conclusion. Batala, the Mother's herald, had shut himself down before reaching the reactor in an attempt to stop himself - the Mother had intended for him to destroy the reactor and wipe the entirety of Lampas off the map. Meanwhile, the institute's deep-ocean sensors detected a fast-approaching anomaly offshore, with photographs depicting what appears to be a giant horror now identified as the Mother herself, heading towards the island.
Operation 'The Last Resort' now begins as the Navy's experts join hands with the L.M.I.'s finest minds, building artillery in preparation for this harrowing arrival. Researchers rushed to find a cure for the Lampia sickness spreading across town, while civilians began preparations by laying sandbags, stockpiling food, and fortifying their tools and armor. Others have simply decided to enjoy what might be their last day, as sea and air travel alike become inaccessible due to the oncoming threat.
